San Antonio Terminal Internacional was the meeting point chosen by SAAM Terminals to continue with the implementation of the BEST program, which will be applied at eight ports it operates in the Americas and also in its Logistics division.

At the event, which brought together the BEST Leaders for each operation, they set the goals for this year and took part in a training session on two of the initiative’s pillars: change management and principles of excellence.

The Business Excellence Senior Manager for SAAM Terminals, Rolando Vargas, commented that “the main objective of the meeting was to outline and strengthen the strategy for this year, establishing clear goals and specific actions, in addition to sharing best practices among the participants. We are convinced that, with the commitment and participation of all our employees, BEST will be a fundamental pillar on our path to excellence.”

The training focused on change management, providing in-depth tools to mobilize teams through the day-to-day challenges of operations.

Carolina Arévalo, TPG’s commercial manager and BEST leader for this terminal, mentioned that “this meeting between terminals has been an enriching experience, as it has equipped me with a great deal of knowledge and the responsibility of working with the main and most valuable resource we have, our people.”

The meeting was attended by employees of Florida International Terminal (FIT), Terminal Marítima Mazatlán (TMAZ), Sociedad Portuaria Caldera (SPC), Terminal Portuario Guayaquil (TPG), Iquique Terminal Internacional (ITI), Antofagasta Terminal Internacional (ATI), San Antonio Terminal Internacional (STI), San Vicente Terminal Internacional (SVTI) and SAAM Logistics.

The program is focused on continuous process improvement, supported by change management through comprehensive training to develop skills and learn about the five components of change: awareness, desire, knowledge, ability and reinforcement.
